Oh god. Rory was totally skinny....It's so hard to imagine that he was the pothead from Dazed and Confused with the dreadlocks! But yes...Ryan was super skinny when he joined the lab...

They're getting an actor to play Ryan as a teenager. SpoilerTV has a casting call up for a 17 year old Ryan. Like, don't get me wrong, but Jonathan is almost 32 now, and yea he looks good, but he LOOKS his age. It would have been super hard to make him look THAT much younger. I could see them using him if it was going to be like a 22, 23 year old Ryan, but not 17. Especially with how he looked in season 3 compared to now. He's just changed too much.

Wait a minute, didn't Ryan say something in earlier episodes about not growing up in Miami and coming here as a young adult? Like, after college? For some reason, I thought he commented about being a kid in Pittsburgh. Or was it all a dream........  |

Everyone says Boston. I don't know when they said in Miami that he was from Boston, but apparently they did. Maybe he grew up in Miami and went to college in Boston or something? If TPTB even remember that they said somewhere that he was actually from Boston, they'll probably make up something like that. :/

I remember something about his past being mentioned in the S5 finale with the Y killer. He was from Boston and apparently Ryan had stopped him or something in patrol I dunno if that was in Miami or Boston but I know he was working in patrol in Miami when H hired him.

I think that was in Born to Kill. The Y Killer had come down from Boston, and Ryan had ticketed him for illegally parking outside that warehouse, if memory serves. Then when Rick was making Ryan go through his tickets to get reinstated, he realized that he had ticketed the Y killer. That ended up being the breakthrough they needed.
Not much to go in in Ryan's past. But it sure sounds like tptb are gonna fill in the blanks.

Since the Y killer ticket was there for Ryan to go through, it must have been written in Miami -- I can't see Boston providing a copy fast enough for him to be going through within the space of a single season.  Besides, Miami wouldn't care about what Ryan had done in some other jurisdiction, they'd only be concerned about CYA'ing themselves. Maybe Ryan came to Miami on a vacation and that inspired him to move there later? |

Well he does have an uncle who lived there. And I remember reading something about how when he was 16 he moved in with his uncle to finish high school. But that might have been from a fic. It would make sense though.

Miami should just USE fan fiction writers ideas for Ryan's background. Most of them have the same general idea. I think they should just make Ryan an orphan, so his Uncle Ron adopts him or something. xD Ryan has never said anything about his mom or dad (except that one comment about them leaving him their lawnmower) but that was ONE comment compared to the TWO times he mentions an uncle.  And, we know that his Uncle Ron at least lives in Miami (because of the episode Crime Wave). The other time he mentioned an uncle was in Darkroom when he says his uncle taught him to pick locks. He doesn't say WHICH uncle, but he'd already mentioned Uncle Ron before, so I'm just going to assume he means him. HMPH. We just need a whole episode dedicated to meeting Ryan's family. Then one after that that is Natalia's family. Frank too I guess, but for some reason I don't care about him as much as Ryan (obviously) and Natalia. Sometimes I wonder what non-obsessive watchers of Miami would say about how much major Miami fans speculate over the characters and the plots. ;D |
