Okay, I'm early. (MLK Day is the 19th) But this year, it feels reasonable to think about the Reverend Dr. King more than usual -- we're taking a major step towards making his Dream come true. I got in a major argument with a fellow student once because she didn't think there was any difference between Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X (and because she thought they should both be locked up for treason, which was stupid on SO many levels....). Would have gotten detention for causing such a ruckus, but fortunately it was the principal who intervened in our little fight -- and when he learned what it was about, he immediately took us both to his office for a long chat on the subject (and gave us both excused absences for the classes we missed as a result). He was a great principal, and very dedicated to the school -- he often wore bright green suits (he had several of them), because the school colors were green and white. Anyone else have MLK memories? And I'm curious, is he special to you guys who aren't from the U.S. or who weren't alive when he was? Or just another name you've heard about in school?
