Yep, I'm sure all of you know who my favorite character is on Miami. Good old Rick Stetler, the guy everybody loves to hate. One thing amazes me. I'm seeing a lot of people who really hated him and now want him back now that he's been mysteriously absent. Personally I wonder what kind of a history he and H have had in the past. He made his grand entrance in the first epi of S2, "Blood Brothers" when he said to H "Do you think your sister-in-law is ready?" Though he wasn't in S1 at all, I think there's more to their history than just the promotion to Lieutenant. I've also noticed that, over time, he went from fairly nice ties to those loud, obnoxious ties. Not sure if that's supposed to be part of his character evolving or if the wardrobe department was smoking something. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. The Horatio/Stetler headbutting is something I sorely miss. It added a dimension of the show that was pretty interesting, if not downright funny at times. Just a personal thing--I think that he and Jake Berkeley are the two most complex and intriguing characters. Some say he's just a criminal with a badge, while others say he's just flawed. Your thoughts?

*sighs* Well, when I first stay Stetler, it was in Tampa of 2007- episode 308, "Crime Wave." Needless to say, I had NO prior knowledge of the Internal Affairs hottie and found out that it was HE was dating Yelina and not Horatio. Imagine my surprise and anger when I found out that, lo and behold, there was implied abuse on his part. Immediately, he was on my hated character list for quite some time after finding that out. It was also then when I slowly became more and more addicted to seeing him and began my merciless hunt to find more episodes of him.
Well, now it's 2009, and I love the man to death. A 180 degree turnaround from disgust for hitting women and loathing for giving Horatio and his crew a difficult time to absolutely adoring the amount of energy DLS puts into making his character unlikeable and at the same time wanting more of him on screen.
He's complex, and we all know that. With Horatio giving him a hard time about Yelina and he relieving Delko of his badge in 410 "Shattered", it's easy to hate him, but... at the same time, you can't help but like him. 408 "Nalied" is a PERFECT example of this, as is 602 "Cyber-Lebrity." They show his caring, seemingly soft side that no one but DLS can pull off. I miss him sorely and wish that the producers would actually have the balls to put him back int the show.
*groans* A little long. Oops.
