If anyone knows how I would LOVE a tapping foot smiley so I don't have to keep twisting JagLady's arm...

I presume you'll do whatever you want to, jaglady -- asking a question and getting an answer doesn't mean you promised to do anything about it. ;D ladytaz, I'm trying to get permission to use a foot-tapper I found -- apparently there are technical difficulties using it on Proboards without violating the source's TOS and copyright restrictions, so we're negotiating. They seem to be reasonable people who have been burned badly in the past -- I know how I'd feel if I put work and time and artistic effort into creating a truly cool smiley and then it got spread all over the Internet without any credit to me! I'll let you know how it turns out. Update: They were really nice and not only gave me permission, they took the time to explain some technical bits to me! But it turns out their site had previous Bad Experiences with their smileys being used inconsiderately and their server now interprets all requests from Proboards as a Denial-Of-Service attack. If I can obtain a host for the image that meets their standards (NOT Photobucket!), they'll still let me use it, but it will be a while before I can do that....so for now, we'll have to hope I can clear copyright with the one csikt found, or maybe someone here will figure out how to roll our own... ;D)

I found a foot tapping smiley on photobucket Excellent detective work, csikt! Could you post or PM me a link, so I can try to make sure no one's copyright is being violated? Or if you know who made it, give me their contact info so I can ask permission to use it? I got all the others from public "free use" forums where they'd already given permission; I just want to be careful not to accidentally tromp on anyone's toes (and, incidentally, violate Proboards' TOS). Thanks!

For those of you who are interested in creating smileys, I ran across a great site -- www.SmileyGenerator.us -- that's dedicated to Those Who Create and has a cool discussion board. From browsing through the threads there, they seem to have a culture that we'd be comfortable with, and tolerant (even enthusiastic!) about newbies, as long as the newbie participates in discussion and doesn't just lurk. You do have to register to see the best parts, and you're expected to join in, but you are NOT expected to necessarily know what you're doing, especially at first. I have the impression that posting "Wow, that is so cool!" counts as active participation for quite a while; if you have any interest in learning how to create smileys, you'll soon be sucked in and posting with more content. I've already learned that a smilie is one of the little round thingees with minor changes to its expression (like the ones that came with this board by default), and a smiley is one of the really creative thingees we love so much (all the extra ones that have been added here). It is NOT a gallery site, though -- you can't grab something you see there and copy it to your Photobucket. But you can learn how to make your own! Warning in case any of you are subject to deja vu: I'm going to post this in the Cool Sites thread too. ;D

Whoops! I didn't mean to imply that the image you found was my second choice, csikt, because it isn't. My bad! It was looking like we'd be able to use the other one quicker, because the owner was already talking to me; since that didn't work out, I'll wait a while to give Bobbi Jo a chance to reply to my comment, then go ahead and use it (and leave a second comment to that effect). It's certainly going to be less complicated than arrranging to use the other one, and I suspect I'll be using your foot-tapper quite a bit! ;D

Oh it's fine mirium. It doesn't matter which foot tapper is used ;D. Which ever one is more convenient and easier for you to get permission to use is perfect ;D! You can ask a few people how much I love smilies and I came across that one while I was trying to find some for msn, lol.

Thanks for the Smiley generator, Mirium. Guess I'll have to register there. Who knows with this warped sense of humor? (One need only look at my av)
