I've mentioned about this happening, but I don't believe Mirium or Sarry did, and I never posted the whole story so here's the scoop on what Impossible Mission was made possible.
A Santo Domingo man is in jail, accused of driving drunk and leading police on a chase that ended when he ran over himself.
A tip to the DrunkBuster hot line alerted police.
"It's weaving all over the road," said one caller to Drunk Busters. "This is really bad," said another.
Dash camera video from the New Mexico State Police captured a driver, later identified as Roy Travis Aguilar, who seemed to be drunk and weaving all over the road.
Little could prepare Officer Grace Romero for what happened next as she came pursued Aguilar.
"I can say that this is the worse that I’ve dealt with," she said.
At first it appeared that Aguilar had no trouble pulling over, but then he quickly changed his mind and took off, according to police.
"I don't think he even knew I was in back of him in the beginning when he first took off," she said.
As speeds approached 80 mph, Romero moved into the opposite lane to alert oncoming traffic while the driver of the truck continued to weave back and forth, narrowly missing a vehicle.
The chase still wasn't over as the truck again barely missed another car as it tried to get back on the road.
After leading the officer off the road, Aguilar stopped his car, got out and fell underneath it. The front tire rolled over his ankle and leg.
Romero stopped the rolling truck and helped the driver, then found evidence of what she suspected.
"I also saw 1.75 liter vodka on the seat, so I knew more or less what I had," she said.
Police did draw blood to check his blood alcohol level and would only describe it as significant.
Aguilar, 21, of Santa Domingo Pueblo, was treated for minor injuries at a Santa Fe hospital and booked in to the Sandoval County jail. He faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, fleeing a police officer, careless driving and two other outstanding traffic warrants.
