I'm okay with most of what he's doing (even if I don't agree with a specific bit of legislation, I figure the guy should be allowed to give it his best shot).
But does he have to keep giving his Big Speeches on Tuesday nights? This is like the third time he's pre-empted WAT, and he's bumped NCIS and the Mentalist once or twice! Hey, buddy, can't you try one of the other days of the week? :thbarf_eachother1:

Well, I don't know, Mirium. He might have more listeners if he'd quit giving speeches at exatly 12:06 EST...
THE SAME TIME RUSH LIMBAUGH IS ON!!
Reminds me of when Hubby and I were in Europe and we were at the mercy of AFN (Armed Forces Network). It was 1993, and everybody was on pins and needles for the season premiere of "Home Improvement." TPTB in Germany decided to air one of Bill Clinton's press conferences, cutting into 20 minutes of Home Improvement. Soldiers and sailors crashed the phone circuits to AFN headquarters, screaming bloody murder. The next day AFN apologized and showed the FULL season premiere of Home Improvement that night. They preempted something else.
I guess we can't be accused of not having our priorities, huh?

I have no idea what to think of him still. But had I been able to vote, I would've went for McCain. All I know is that this'll be an interesting four years, and Dad doesn't like Obama already.

(Anyone have an innocently-batting-eyelashes smiley I could borrow?) ;D Maybe he figures that Limbaugh fans aren't going to listen to his speech anyway, since Rush will report and comment on the parts they're interested in. Or maybe he wants people to choose between hearing the full speech or hearing what his most popular opponent has to say -- only those with open minds will feel a conflict. (Out of curiosity, aren't both available on the Internet for those who want to hear them? That doesn't fix the scheduling conflict, but it would be nice.) I know I'd be seriously conflicted if Our Only President's speech was on one channel and Jack Malone was on another, they both stimulate my thoughts. Very different thoughts, but still....

I can proudly say that I DID NOT vote for pre-empted tv shows and went with the ol' coot and pitbull instead And I noticed in the grocery store, you walk in BOOM! There's a whole shelf of books dedicated to Obama. Hum, pre-empted tv shows over a speech, Obama's face plastered everywhere, sounds like communism to me

... sounds like communism to me Au contraire, mon frere! The speeches contain explanations of what the government is doing and why, which wasn't common practice in the old USSR. And a whole shelf of Obama books for sale? That's unbridled CAPITALISM!

No speech tonight! Looking forward to an episode of WAT! Settled down in front of the TV, bowl of popcorn in lap, and.... IT'S A REPEAT!!!!! Ah, well. At least it was an episode worth repeating. Ditto for the Mentalist, that was a goodie too. Glad that Jack's hair has grown out a bit! No reply from the White House to my e-mail, but I didn't expect one -- I picked "comment, no response necessary." Mixed feelings about whether we get a speech or an episode-filled evening next week -- I want Our Only President* to do things and tell us about them, but I also WANT MY JACK FIX!!!! No, no, thank you very much -- one cold compress is all I need. :screwloose: *"Our Only President" is how Molly Ivins used to refer to President Bush II. It was her way of reminding everyone (including herself, occasionally) that all those PresWannabees didn't win the election, and the Current Occupant must be accorded respect no matter how strongly one might disagree with his policy.

This is why I'm glad I live in Canada. No one wants to hear our Prime Minister speak *mostly because everything that comes out of his mouth makes him sound like more of a tool* so they never pre-empt shows. And we have CTV which airs *almost* all the CBS shows so I can watch them while you guys suffer.

Hahahahaaaa! I like everything you said Adri. Although I don't think CTV plays NCIS or The Mentalist, which is what it seems Obama is always interrupting.
