So last night, at my high school, another bomb threat was found written in one of the bathroom stalls.
Yes, Another.
Last year, a threat was found in one of the bathrooms, saying "On January 16th, everyone will pay". So that day, the school wasn't evacuated, but hardly anybody showed up. The school also had about 20 or more cops in it that day, and students had to leave their backpacks at the front of the class and such. My mom made me stay home that day.
Apparently the school board posted it on their website last night, at 10pm, when over half of us were in bed. So the students who didn't get the message went to school, were shipped over to the community center, and bussed home. I was on my spare first block.
I was getting all prettied up, and my brother came home from his school (he had Winter Activity Day, but apparently he wasn't supposed to go until 10. He heard there that there was a bomb threat at my school) and told me about the threat. I didn't believe him, so we turned on the Island News, and it came on there.
It's ridiculous. The people in my town are on too much pot to know how to make a bomb!

The high school I went to, it was pretty common to get a bomb threat several times during the year. However, I was in the unfortunate class that didn't have any while we were there Although we did have lockdowns due to gang wars. Exception with our people, they're not high on pot, they're high on stupidity. But then I shouldn't say stupid if they made the police believe a box with a watch on it was a bomb

Well, last year was my first. And our school district didn't even do a "code red/yellow" thing until some guy was seen wandering around with a shotgun by the school. So now we have to do a drill at the beginning of the year for that.

Oh yes, that seems so unfortunate. It's news like this that makes me glad I live in such a small town and go to a high school with only 500 kids. We've never had a bomb threat, although last year there was a gun threat. I think it was a little over dramatic because we're such a small school, everyone was excited instead of scared. Still, hardly anyone went to school that day and they did have cops there. Nothing ended up happening. We do have lockdown procedures and the teachers have to tell us them every year, but we've never once had a real drill where they actually say "Lockdown is in effect". We're all well practiced with fire drills though, we have enough malfunctions to last us during the winter.

I live in a small town, but we have about 1000 kids or more.
While I've been in the school, I haven't had a gun threat lockdown. It was the year before I got there that they did.

Double-lockdown for us next week. Oh, the joys of being in high school. *sarcasm* 12 weeks, and then I'm out.

See our problem was the school had a student body over 3,000. Plus we had,and still have, the gangbangers from California, New York, Chicago, Michigan, and Mexico migrating over to us.
When we went into lockdown over the gang war, all they did was lock the doors and if we saw a gun or glass flying at us, then duck. They also said not to play hero, but that's code for if you have your weapon like you're not suppose to, you better know how to use it in one shot or you better have a good aim when you throw a chair.
What's even more sad is these gangbangers jump kids as they get off the bus for recruitment.

We have several high schools in our county, but there has never been any bomb threats. Well there may have, but the public didn't hear about them. Yes there's drug busts being made left and right, and a few gang rivalry action going on, but nothing major thank goodness. There was a bomb threat made at the University back during exam week, but they causght the person that made the threat.

You guys have a harder time than I did, growing up -- the Cool Rebels were hippies (it was the 1960s) and they were more about Peace and Love than drugs, and they certainly didn't go around shooting people -- they put flowers in the gun barrels of the National Guardsmen who had been ordered to keep the demonstrations in line, and most of the rebels wanted to improve the government, not bring it down. Elvis Presley, who was considered a Major Threat To Society at the time (he wore his hair long, played "black music", a.k.a. rock 'n' roll, and swung those hips!) also loved his Mom, was polite (he called anyone older than him "sir" or "ma'm") and he abandoned his career to join the millitary when his country called. The people we saw in the media, the ones we aspired to be, might have a different idea of how society should work but they still wanted to be part of it. Now it seems (at least to this old fogey) that everyone is being told they should aspire to trashing society -- promoting the idea that being rude is cooler than being polite, taking advantage of the weak is cooler than helping them, lying and cheating and stealing to get rich is cooler than being ethical and excellent at what you do. It's more admirable to rob someone than to earn the money, as long as you don't get caught. Which gives kids today a dilemma we didn't have -- being successful within the rules is no longer considered a success. But then, I'm an old fogey. It's my job to claim that the world is going to hell in a handbasket. How'm I doing?
