(This is the one where a girl who Nick has run into on a bunch of other cases gets killed.) Poor Nick! I can see why he felt guilty, but how could he have known that Halley would be killed? Not only was it an accident, but even if he'd wanted to, what excuse could he have had to investigate and find out what was going on? And if he had, what could he have done? Bet he's spending time thinking about other people he's run into more than once, though, wondering if he can stop the same thing from happening again. If the writers are on their top game, that thinking might show up in how Nick reacts for the rest of the season. The girl who played Halley did a great job showing how she changed in just a year. Err, I take it she's famous for something? The promos sure seemed to think she is. I also thought the way they did the transitions from one time when Nick saw Halley to the next time was really cool -- it looked like they filmed him separately, changing the lighting as the camera rotated to the time of the next "chapter" in the story.

I liked how the did the transitions too! It was a great idea and it really worked.
I feel like they could have done better with Halley's and Nick's realationship. Like the writers could have made them closer.
Awww Nicky at the end! I just wanted to give him a hug! I think Dr. L handle the situation pretty well, but it would have been better with Grissom. Though Dr. L got Nick and all.
I think he got so upset because he feels he could have solved the murder of Halley's real mother, putting Halley's adopted mother behind bars before she killed Halley. I can see why Nick feels slightly responsible. I would, especially since he watched her go through a year of her life.
And that would be a great idea if Nick takes this experience with him and changes how he reacts to certain things.
And finally... the girl who played Halley was Taylor Swift. She is really famous. Taylor is a country singer, I guess more popular among the younger generation. She's 19ish I think.
Okay so I'm not totally done! I definitely really liked this episode! And next weeks.... CAN'T WAIT!!!

I liked this one too...I thought Taylor Swift did a good job...she said in an interview that she's always dreamed of dying on CSI...I guess her dream came true.

Oh my, it was my two favorite things put together: CSI and Taylor Swift.
I'm a HUGE Taylor Swift fan, and I have both of her CD's. I didn't know how well she'd do with the acting, but man, SHE DID GREAT!
The scene at the end with Nick and Ray was very touching, as well as with Grissom leaving a message ("last year") for Nick to say happy birthday. Same with the college fund for Warrick's son too.
Oh my, it was a great episode!

Thanks for the 411 on Taylor Swift! There are new talented people coming along all the time, but at my age I have to rely on you guys to tell me about them. NikNak, I think one of the dilemmas Nick has is that he has to be careful about getting close to people he meets on the job -- partly because it might affect his ability to be unbiased if he got close to someone who was a witness/suspect/perp, and partly because he meets needy people all the time. Getting involved with all of them would be emotionally exhausting, getting involved with just a few means you have to choose and what if you make the wrong choice? Dr. L's comment ("this is what the job is", or something like that) puzzled me. If feeling rotten and like you've failed is the job, why would anyone want it?
