(episode where Director Vance investigates the death of a boxer from Chicago, and doesn't want to tell anyone why) It was interesting to learn more about Leon, although I had to laugh a little -- in TV dramas, everyone from Chicago is from the South Side and is tough. Very, very tough. I guess I can forgive the writers for invoking a simplistic stereotype; after all, they usually portray anyone who lives in L.A. as a greedy, self-centered ditz. I thought it was interesting how Gibbs seemed only concerned about Leon's wellbeing, not insulted at attempts to keep him out of the case. And how Leon wasn't upset that everyone talked to Gibbs anyway; was he bending to the inevitable, or was he counting on them talking to Gibbs and leaving it up to Gibbs to decide if he wanted to be involved? Leon certainly didn't fuss when Gibbs got himself invited to dinner at Leon's home. Wonder if they'll develop a personal relationship outside the office, like Gibbs and Ducky? And it looks like Tony's due for a continuing subplot -- did Gibbs lay off the for a while because he knew Tony's going through a rough patch? Kind of weird that Tony would confide in a total stranger and ask for advice about his "dry spell"; wonder if he thought she had special expertise, or maybe he's used to turning to women for guidance and she was the only one who he wouldn't have to meet again later?

I have never been more confused while watching an NCIS episode. I had no idea what was going on for most of the episode, and I was actually watching it.
All I figured out was, Tony needs some lovin', and the guy who died was a boxer that Vance looked up to.

All I figured out was, Tony needs some lovin', and the guy who died was a boxer that Vance looked up to. Actually, that's a pretty good synopsis. The rest of the episode was everyone's reactions to Vance cutting Gibbs out of the investigation, and everyone's assumptions about the people involved in the case -- and finding out how accurate those assumptions were. Plus we got to see some of Vance's home life.
