(crime on a movie set) They're back to "Red" in the title! The writers seemed to be having fun with this one, like the actor who admitted his career was in the ditch by saying "I've come very close to having to take a TV gig." And the way all the actors/directors/etc. (everyone except the writers! ) in the entertainment biz were all shallow, self-absorbed and not too connected with reality. Is it just me, or has that theme been showing up a lot since the writers' strike? I lol'ed at the way Jane perked up during the "kissing scene." And the relationship between the actress and her daughter (step daughter? my memory is going...) was interesting, I didn't see the twists coming.

I don't remember a lot since this was back on Tuesday, but I liked it. It wasn't as good as some of the episodes though. And the woman who played the step-mom, who was involved in the murder, is Simon Baker's real life wife.

Cool, I didn't know that! Bet they had fun shooting the scenes together....

I watched the beginning, but that was about it, for I had to babysit last week. I think I got up to the part where they had just finished questioning the step daughter....Did I miss anything important?

I don't think so. Nothing character-wise happened really.

luf's right. Lots of funny situations and one-liners, but no life-changing events. Except for the crime-of-the-week folks, of course.
CBS is really going all out to promote this show -- they're even bumping CSI:Miami next week to air an extra episode!

"The Crimson Casanova" on Monday, "Paint It Red" on Tuesday, according to the posted CBS schedule. www.cbs.com/info/schedule/index.php I don't pay much attention to episode titles, so you'll have to tell me if those are new.

Neither of them are. So what's the point of cutting out Miami? I love The Mentalist and don't really care since Miami wasn't supposed to be new next week either, but I think Miami fans who don't like The Mentalist would rather see a CSI: Miami rerun than a Mentalist rerun. : /

The point of cutting out Miami is that Miami has a huge number of viewers, and lots of them will watch this episode of Mentalist instead of doing something else -- and then check out Mentalist in its regular time slot, once they've got a taste. Especially since Mentalist will be on in its regular slot the very next evening. And the shows do have a fair amount in common -- Mentalist isn't glitzy, but it is stylish, and has a lot of one-liners. Heck, Jane is even a strawberry blonde.
Miami fans aren't likely to abandon the show just because it was off the air one week. No risk, plenty to gain.
