Eh, thought I'd start an episode thread just for old times' sake. The show starts in a couple hours, and it's been so hectic this week I haven't even seen the ads for it -- at least I know it won't fall short of my expectations.... Okay, that was pretty amusing once I stopped expecting any pretence of realism. Everybody got air time, even if the lines weren't exactly classic. The new ME and the new lab rat are a hoot -- and I know I've seen the lab rat somewhere before, I just can't remember where. The "plot" didn't just jump to conclusions, it polevaulted -- that's gotta be intentional, that much illogic takes effort. I thought they were going to make the cougar the Ethical Villain, but they lightened up at the end. Horatio got to say something meaningful to a young female person. And just for the record -- you don't identify unknown chemical substances in 5 minutes by adding liquid with an eyedropper. Not even after eyeballing it and announcing it's got carbon in it.

And how could someone in their late twenties like Ryan NOT know what a "cougar" is? And he was wearing that hideous white leather jacket that made him look 20lbs heavier than he is. Next week he's back in a sweater vest. When they said they were going back to revisit the styles of previous seasons, I didn't think wardrobe was included too. I hate that white jacket.
Jesse can climb onto my roof any day.
The whole Eric/Calleigh thing was nice. Eric seemed back...to normal...Back before he got shot in season 5. He had that little arrogant tone in his voice that made me happy. As sad as I am to say, as much as I love Eric, I don't think I'll miss him that much...with Jesse running around and all.
And Nat actually got screen time! And H wore a labcoat!
Other than that, the story was bland. The word 'cougar' was over used.

It kept me amused, because I kept remembering that some of TPTB on CSI:Miami are women over 40 and could perhaps have a personal interest in the reputation of "cougarism" -- especially when the story started out making them look tacky and then ended up that they had been Misjudged and were actually wonderful folks. Hmm, do you think maybe they were trying to Send A Message?

I never knew the term cougar, but maybe cos it's not so used here in the UK?! Or is it and I'm sheltered!!! I kinda liked the epi, was interesting, funny too that they used a lightning bolt as a murder weapon, gotta keep looking for new ideas or they just become samey!

I strongly disliked the case in this episode. I mean really, a lightning rod? Chyea, I'm sure. I know they even stressed in the show "this had to be the luckiest killer ever" but it was still just so stupid to me. It would have been more interesting if they had been killed a normal way, like being shot or something, imo.

I was kind of irritated at them for the convenient "bolt out of the blue" at first, but decided they were trying to be totally silly for this one -- a shared *wink* *wink* "oh, that would never REALLY happen!" with the writers. It was okay then, but not an episode I need to see again. I wish they had had the courage to load the whole episode with improbable coincidences; finding a flipped coin standing on edge and making it a crucial clue, for example. And the tie-wearing guys all wearing the same tie that day, and all the women wearing the exact same outfit. Having some whimsical song ("the Funky Chicken" comes to mind) showing up as elevator music, on someone's boom box, as a cell phone ring tone... If they'd made it a theme, it would have been hilarious. They really need to consult us on these things before they shoot the episodes.

Mirium, that would have been an insane episode if that was the theme! It'd probably be one of my all time favorite episode of Miami. hahaha oh man I wish they did that!

Glad you like the idea, NikNak -- now what we need is one of our local authors to grab it and run! I never knew the term cougar, but maybe cos it's not so used here in the UK?! Or is it and I'm sheltered!!! Maybe you don't have them there. I believe the cougar is native to North America. Both kinds.
