Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch ftw. I never did like Big Bird. I think you forgot Elmo. GASP!!!
But really, did you look these up or seriously remember them all? XD Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street. You were always second to Barney for me, but cool nonetheless.

Dang, I could have sworn I had Elmo on the list! Must be a Freudian slip, I can't stand the little bugger. *ruh-oh* I remembered a surprising number of them on my own, considering that I was a teenager when Sesame Street debuted. I watched it a lot when the Muppet Show went off the air -- had to get my fix! There used to be a lot there to amuse adults back when Jim Henson was alive -- besides the obvious cultural references in the characters themselves, there were lots more in the scripts. Besides, I had a serious crush on Bob. (That puzzled me too, but it was true.) But yes, I went to Wikipedia to make sure I didn't miss major characters that showed up after I stopped watching. Edit: I put in the Amazing Mumford twice, that's where Elmo was accidentally omitted. Dang. Please feel free to enthuse about him, I know there are quite sensible folks who think he's adorable, even if he makes me (Channeling Dorothy Parker here, who reviewed The House At Pooh Corner under the pseudonym "Constant Reader" thus: "Tonstant Weader twowwed up."

I LOVE Sesame Street!!! Glad you got the spelling for Snuffy's name off Sesame Street... funnily enough one of our local radio stations had a call-in poll for how to spell it (they didn't know either), Snuffleupagus or Snuffleuffagus... unfortunately, Snuffleuffagus (which i think is incorrect) won... Ah well. Fond memories none the less I'm sure!
Anyone else enjoying the Google home page this week? Loved Bert and Ernie today!
