Finland is currently celebrating its Independence Day and the 70th anniversary of the Winter War, which they lost. I am only aware of this because a radio program I listen to is joining in the spirit of the thing by playing a bunch of Finnish music tonight. So far, there seem to be three genres: dreamy, yelping, and dreamily yelping. (Yes, it is possible to dreamily yelp. Who knew?) The yelping isn't how the Finnish language (Suomo?) sounds; there are regular lyrics, the yelping is extra.
It is unclear whether this is related to the Finnish national pastime of taking hot saunas followed immediately by diving nekkid into a snow bank.
(The same show is going to celebrate the longest night of the year by playing really long songs that night. They're a little weird there, can you tell? ;D)
