This came to mind because of the Santa aspects of the current holiday season, but it's really about Wish Lists in general -- which apply even for those who don't get caught up in the red-and-green Ho-Ho-Ho frenzy. "World Peace" and all other altruistic yearnings are assumed, because we are HIgh Minded Folks. This is an invitation to channel your Material Girl. 
I mostly asked for DVDs -- "There's No Business Like Show Business," which is an old and very quirky movie (I've described it on other threads and won't bore you with it again); "Finding Nemo" (I love that thing and lost my copy); and seasons 1-3 of "Without A Trace" (dang, I miss my cranky Jack!). Also for decent potholders. The ones I have are pretty heat resistant but they don't bend well and they're kind of slippery. I have conducted enough spontaneous experiments to be thoroughly convinced that there are better ways to get the bread out of the pan than dropping the whole thing on the floor, and am ready to move on. (A serendipitous discovery: if the bread bounces higher than the pan, I took it out too soon...)
Guess that sets the bar pretty low for "refined tastes" and "not boring."
