I'm amused at some of my own gift choices, which makes me wonder if anyone else is feeling pleased at finding Something Special For Someone Special. For example, one of my couch potato friends asked for exercise DVDs, and I'm giving him one -- despite being a total sofa spud myself. Ah, but I have frenetically fit friends who have optimistically loaned me such things in the past and I've watched them (while ensconced in a comfy chair, with my feet up) so I'm giving him one that entertained me mightily and was offered to me with the comment that "even you can do this one without hurting yourself."
I also tracked down "the Hymnal I grew up with" for someone, based on a wistful comment made in passing that the modern one just wasn't the same. He's a devout Christian and we'll both enjoy the irony of an atheist giving someone a hymnal for Christmas. (And thank you, Lutherans, for only updating your materials a few times each century!)
This isn't limited to this year or to Xmas gifts -- it's purely for amusement, so all anecdotes welcome. Anyone else pleased with themselves for finding just the right thing? Or just the wrong thing? Or a what-was-I-thinking thing?
