Well this idea popped into my head because of Kelly... soo I had to write it! And it was the perfect place to be mucho TaHness! Enjoy!!
Kelly was sitting in history class listening to Dr. Hammerback ramble on and on about the cowboys. He had endless stories about them; well he basically had endless stories about everything. Kelly’s mind began to wander like a little child in a candy store. Mr. Taylor would be a very hot cowboy, she thought to herself, oh and of course Sheldon. It’s a good thing no one can hear my thoughts…
…………………………………………………………………………………
Some of the towns girls were out in the city square doing their usually duties. Three girls were talking about the new blacksmith in town. Another two were talking marriages and weddings. Another two were talking about a mysterious figure that had rolled into town a few days ago.
They were all so engrossed in their conversations they hadn’t notice two dark figures ride into town. The figures rode their horses right up to the group of girls, wondering if it had been too long. Adri was the first to notice the horses and the figures.
“I reckon mysterious figures enjoy our small little town,” Adri smiled.
Both figures tried to suppress a laugh. The one in the brown hat couldn’t hold it back, “Well it is a small town, but hey you always come back to your roots.”
“Well if it ain’t Niki Stokes back from her adventures,” Sarry laughed, “So I’m guessing the one with the black hat be Kelly Higgins. You two got the law chasing after y’all?”
“Haven’t had time to, we’ve been riding four days straight.” Kelly said with a Texas drawl.
Lauren piped up, “Oh poor Mickey and Dallas.”
Niki rolled her eyes, “She never said what we’d been riding for four days straight. You know what they say, save a horse ride a cowboy.” She gave all the girls a sly smile.
“You would,” Kat smiled, knowing she had influenced Niki, “But not Kell Bells.”
“And you’re right. That ain’t me. Remind me to never skipped town with her again.”
“Oh Kells you know this whole thing is an adventure you’ll never forget.” Niki said leaning back on her saddle and placing her legs along Mickey’s neck. Mickey wasn’t too pleased with this and bucked Niki off causing her to fall to the ground.
All the girls laughed when she fell and laughed even harder when they saw her face after eating as much dirt as she did.
“I reckon being a roamer didn’t help you with your balance problem.” A tall man stood over Niki. He tipped his hats to the other girls. Then turned his attention back to Niki, “You staying for good? Or passing through?”
Niki got up and brushed the dirt off her brown cowboy hat and placed it back on her braided hair, “No ‘Howdy Sis! I’ve missed you’ I guess you ain’t a gentleman like they say. But if you must know, I could just be a tumble weed passing through, or I might take a permanent spot here. And as for Kells…” She turned back to see Kelly staring at a man dressed all black with a black Stetson.
“Who she eyeing at?” Niki asked Kat.
Kat knew everyone and everything about their little town. “She’d be eyeing Sheriff Taylor. He is pretty dreamy and I’d be all over that if I wasn’t already taken.” She smiled flashing her ring.
Niki stared at the ring, “I leave town for a year and this happens? I need to talk to Adri; she’s got the latest gossip. Kells get off your horse and get over here! We got some news to hear.”
Kelly exited her trance and got off Dallas. She wandered over to Niki and Adri.
“Okay spill.” Both roamers said at the same time.
Adri smiled, she loved it when people came to her for the town gossip. “H and Kat married right when he came Deputy Sheriff. There is a new young doctor in town helping out Dr. Hammerback. Sarry and Nick are secretly engaged but it ain’t much of a secret… well they still think it is.”
“Oh and there is this really cute blacksmith that rolled into town about a month ago. Don, Nick, and Warrick are all working for Sheriff Taylor now. Ryan became the town tailor. And let me tell you its pretty darn good having your brother being the town tailor. Also this mysterious loner rolled into town a few days ago. Sierra and Caitie can’t stop starring at him. He ain’t that good lookin’ though. He’s dirty and scrappy lookin’.”
New young doctor Kelly thought to herself, “Is the doctor cute?”
“He ain’t my cup of tea,” Lauren jumped in, “But that’s cause I’ve got my Nick Jonas, who sings regularly at Ms. Bonesera’s saloon.”
“You should look for yourself Kells cause there he is.” Caitie said pointing to the doctor. Kelly followed Caitie’s finger and stared.
Niki sighed and took off her hat, “We go to hundreds a different towns with plenty of hot guys she doesn’t eye any of them. But we come back to this dust bowl and she’d be eyeing two men.”
“For a dust bowl we have some pretty hot guys,” Allie added, “Like there is Ryan, Don, who just got back into town, Danny but I think he skipped town, and the new Blacksmith, Greg.”
Niki raised an eyebrow at the mention of Danny and Don, “Danny skipped town? How long ago?’ Her voice was laced with curiosity and sadness.
“I reckon about a month ago,” Sarry jumped into the conversation. Nick had left so she went back to talking with her friends.
Niki’s face fell and she mumbled to herself, “I reckon he didn’t wanna wait no more.” She looked up to the girls and forced a smile.
“So Kelly since Niki never kisses and tells who was the cowboy she was riding… instead of Mickey?” Adri asked with great curiosity.
“Why don’t you ask him for yourself.” She smiled loving the irony of the situation. Once Adri asked the question the lean and tall Don Flack walked passed the group of girls, he tipped his hat to all of them and eyed Niki. Then he went back on his way.
“Well I reckon that answered everyone’s burnin’ question.” Sarry laughed as she saw Niki blush with embarrassment as all the girls stared at her.

The next day Kelly and Niki were walking through town looking for the blacksmith’s shop. Both needed to get horse shoes for Mickey and Dallas. They wondered into the shop and heard loud banging noises coming from the back.
“Hey partner we need some help up here.” Kelly shouted impatiently.
Niki stared at her partner, “We’ve been here less then a second. Please chill. What you got a hot date with the doctor or Sheriff Taylor?”
“No to the second, yes to the first.”
Niki was taken back. They had just gotten back to town and Kelly already had a date. “I guess I really made an impact on your life. I’m so proud.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Kelly rolled her eyes, “It ain’t a date or nothin’ I’m just gonna teach Sheldon how to ride.”
Niki snickered at Kelly’s poor choice in words. Kelly sighed at her friends’ immaturity.
“Will you grow up?”
“I’ll grow up when I’m good and ready.” Niki laughed turning around and coming face to face with the blacksmith.
“Howdy,” He smiled, “I’m Greg Sanders the town’s blacksmith. You two must be new to town.”
“Not new, we lived here before. Beginning of last year we skipped town cause there was nothin’ fun here. We just got back from the east. Too cold for Niki.” Kelly answered.
“I reckon you be Niki.” He smiled motioning toward Niki.
“You be right.” She smiled back, “Niki Stokes and this be Kelly Higgins. We need some horse shoes for our horses.”
“Well you gotta bring your horses in so I can size them and put them on.” Greg frowned at the lack of horses with them.
Kelly let out a sigh, “We can put them on ourselves… I’ll come back later I’ve got places to be.” And with that Kelly stormed out of the blacksmith’s shop.
“Don’t pay any attention to her. She’s never gotten laid. When that happens it makes people cranky.” Niki said.
Greg raised an eyebrow, “Isn’t that risky? Like doing that kind of stuff before marriage?”
Niki smiled, “Then I guess risk is my middle name.” She winked.
………………………………………………………………………………….
Kelly and Niki were at Ms. Bonersa’s saloon, just hanging around. The other girls in town had to be home and getting dinner ready by now. But since Kelly and Niki were homeless, they went to the saloon.
Kelly was sitting at the bar playing a card game. Niki was standing up and throwing knives at a pole.
“Do you know how dangerous that is?’ Kelly asked, not looking up from her card game.
Niki rolled her eyes and threw another knife, “Well I guess I could get hurt and I could hurt someone else, but… it’s a lot of fun so I don’t care!”
Niki turned sideways to practice throwing without looking. Her back was to the door so she couldn’t see Sheriff Taylor and his marry men… plus Kat and Sarry. Niki threw the knife at the pole just when Sheriff Taylor was inches from it. The knife pierced the pole just missing the Sheriff’s face.
All Niki could do was mustard up a nervous laugh. Sheriff Taylor just stared her down. Sarry and Kat were stifling laughter. Nick, Warrick, and Horatio just shook their heads.
“I told you.” Kelly mumbled to herself, but loud enough so Niki could hear.
Niki never moved. Flack had walked up behind her and whispered, “Just back in town and you’re already trying to kill the Sheriff. Smooth.” He then continued his way to the table reserved for their discussion.
Niki stuck out her foot fast enough to catch Flack’s foot. He stumbled but didn’t fall. Niki chuckled to herself and then laughed harder when she saw the look Flack throw at her.
“Niki!” Kelly shouted, “Grow up, please!”
“Like I said before, when I’m good and ready,” She smiled, walking with a swagger to the stool closet to the Sheriff’s table.
Kelly moved herself next to Niki to overhear what the Sheriff and his crew were discussing. They only caught bits and pieces of the conversation but it was enough to make them worry. Enough to freak them out and enough to fear for the people of the town, the people that they grew up with, it was enough for them to fear for those peoples lives.
………………………………………………………………………………….
The town was going about their daily business like every ordinary day. But today, today was a different day. Everyone was going about their business, so they didn’t notice the group of men that rode into town. By the time someone did notice it was too late.
A shot rang out and everyone turned around to see the man in the center of the group holding a gun. The townspeople froze where they were standing. Niki tipped her hat in front of her face and Flack noticed.
“Niki, I swear if you know them…” He couldn’t finish is threat.
Hawkes had just screamed that Adam was hit. Dr. Hammerback was no where to be found so it was up to Hawkes to stop the bleeding and get Adam out of there.
Kelly felt slightly responsible so she helped Hawkes and tried reassuring Adam that everything was going to be alright. Kelly couldn’t take the pain in his eyes. Right then and there she decided to drop this whole roamer life. It brought people too much pain.
The man with the gun finally began to speak, “Now I ain’t one for talking, so I’m gonna get right to the point. Where the hell are Niki and…”
Before he could finish Niki stepped in front of the group. She didn’t want to get Kelly in trouble.
“I’m right here. No need to go shootin’ at people,” Niki smiled slyly tipping her hat back, “I didn’t know you guys would miss me that much?”
“We don’t miss heartbreakers, we just like to get our revenge,” The leader smiled.
“You know what they saw about an eye for an eye, it makes the whole world blind.” Niki mocked him.
“Then no one gets to see a wh…”
Niki interrupted him before he could finish, “No need for name calling partner. Now instead of getting’ the whole town involve let’s just talk.”
“I’ll only talk to you when we find Kelly,”
There was a gasp among the townspeople. Kelly stood up and looked over toward Sheriff Taylor. He looked at her then shook his head. Kelly just stared.
Niki looked back at Kelly and said, “Kelly, baddies here! You can eye ball the Sheriff later!”
Kelly gave Niki the ‘I’m going to kill you look’ and then walked next to her. Both girls were staring the Black Bandits down.
The leader smiled, “You won’t have time for eyeballin’ when we’re done with ya. Any last request?”
Niki started thinking of all the options she had before her. It took a while but she finally got one.
“Please sir!” She fell to her knees and began to beg, “Kelly, Kelly she wants to roll around in the hay with Sheriff Taylor!”
There was a gasp from everyone. The Sheriff and Kelly’s face both turned the same shade of red.
Niki just continued but with tears this time, “I think she still hasn’t… well you know. And it would be her dying wish to get a chance with the big hot shot Sheriff in town! I promise you! You can’t deny this face!”
“Please as a last request,” Niki sniffled and stood up, “I mean, having to live the life she has and not getting to fulfill her dreams of sleeping with Sheriff Taylor! You would be a cruel, cruel, cruel man!”
Everyone was in complete shock. Either Niki was an amazing actress or this was the real deal. Kelly couldn’t take it anymore. People were starting to think things.
“No way! I do NOT want that at all!” Kelly shouted, her face was burning with embarrassment.
Niki turned to Kelly and said, “Dang it Kelly! I had them going! I even had fake tears and everything! You ruined our chances of gettin’ out of this alive!”
“How is sayin’ I wanted to sleep with Sheriff Taylor as a last request gonna get us outta this?”
“Cause then I woulda had more time to think of a plan!”
One of the Black Bandits coughed and said, “Excuse us, but we are right here.”
“Oh well uh… as a last request can I sleep with uh… uh… him!” Niki said pointing to Greg. Greg just smiled.
“Well since we know you already lost it that would be a no.” The leader smiled and lifted his gun in the air. The other Black Bandits did the same.
Niki and Kelly both looked at each other.
“Nice job sleeping with the leader’s son then skippin’ out on them.”
“Nice job shootin’ their horses!”
“Well I wouldn’t have shot their horses if I hadn’t heard that you slept with that kid!”
“And I wouldn’t have skipped out if I hadn’t heard you shot their horses!”
“Could you two stop fightin’?!” The leader shouted, “I think we’ll be doin’ the world a justice when we kill you two. Don’t ya think guys?”
All the Black Bandits turned their attention to their leader giving Kell and Niki enough time to pull out their guns and shot two of them. That’s when all hell broke loss.
Guns were being fired from every direction. People were screaming and shouting while ducking for cover. Bullets were flying everywhere; the Black Bandits were just shooting without a care. The Sheriff and his men, plus Niki and Kelly were trying to hit the Black Bandits but in a gun fight, it’s every man for themselves.

“Well it looks like you are stuck here for a while now,” A voice said.
Niki eyes were just opening and trying to adjust to the lightning, “What?”
Kelly rolled her eyes, “You got shot moron. Which means you are gonna have to wait here till you’re better.”
“Oh,” Niki said, “Well this is news to me. So did we win the fight?”
Kelly rolled her eyes again, “Of course we did. What did you expect? We are alive.”
“No need to be rude. I was just asking a simple question that’s all.”
“Nothing is simply when Niki Stokes is involved”
