We've got an Alberta Clipper making its presence known here (that's a nickname for a cold front from Canada descending on the upper U.S. Midwest) and it's FRIGGING COLD! According to the forecast, the high temperature today should reach a balmy 3°F, with wind chills around -20°F. And it's going down to -25°F tonight, actual temperature... Okay, you Canadians, pick yourselves up off the floor and wipe your eyes. Glad I could give you a good laugh.

I hear ya, Mirium.
Some of that Yankee weather is supposed to rake over us tonight. They're predicting highs in the 20's and lows around 10 with a windchill of zero. Figure that normal highs for us is in the 50's F.
The utility company I work with is suspending all disconnects for the next couple of days, also because of the slick roads and high winds in the mountains.
Maybe I can ask my Rick Stetler clone to stoke the fireplace and wrap me in a blanket. ;D

Sucks to be you guys right now. I guess I should be grateful to be walking around down here in the desert in the higher 40s to lower 50s. Nights here have been on the cool side though. We've only been in the teens. But then this is only January. Have to wait until February though. It's usually from February to May that the weather gets whacky. For instance
Monday partly cloudy high 60 Tuesday rain/snow storms high 32 Wednesday sunny high 85
Oh the pleasures of living in the desert

Oh how I wish I understood Fahreinheit.
My iGoogle is telling me that it's -12 C right now here, but this morning it was -15, and supposed to get down to at least -20 by the nighttime.

Oh how I wish I understood Fahrenheit. My iGoogle is telling me that it's -12 C right now here, but this morning it was -15, and supposed to get down to at least -20 by the nighttime. Let's see. 3F (our forecast high for today) is -16C; 10F (our actual temperature at this moment, it's warmer than they predicted, yay!) is -12C -25F (our predicted low temp tonight) is -32C. -12C (your current temp, luf) is 10F -20C (your predicted low tonight) is -4F. I'm not a whiz at arithmetic, I used a converter website: www.albireo.ch/temperatureconverter/which also gives the formulas, for the curious: C = (F-32) x 5/9 and F = C x 9/5 + 32. Type and click is MUCH easier! The bottom line is, I'm chillier than you are, luf! ner ner ner!

It's -14 degrees F in MN. Yeesh! Boogers freeze in your nose at that temperature! Don't ask me how I know. Supposed to be down around 14F in North Carolina. (Normal is about 42F) Hope they got the heaters going at the gun range. Hubby and I want to go shooting Saturday, and it's kind of hard to aim that rifle when you're shivering.

Yeesh! Boogers freeze in your nose at that temperature! Don't ask me how I know. I don't have to ask. I'm familiar with the phenomenon. On the bright side, if you hate to shave your legs, just don't dry them thoroughly after your shower -- put on slacks and go out soon, and you'll come back with nice, smooth gams. Just a little humidity, and the friction is enough to snap off the nubsicles. Don't ask me how I know... ;D And the ice chips on the bullets/cartridges must mess up your trajectories, too....
