Chapter 5
-----------------------------------------------
The Park
“Dawn where are you?” Katie whispered. Katie was frantically looking around, but trying to do it as quietly as possible. She felt a hand go over her mouth and was dragged behind some bushes. Something told her not to scream, and when she saw who it was, she was relieved she didn’t.
“Dawn are you flippin crazy for coming out here by yourself?!”
“Would you shut up before you get us both killed?!”
“What do you mean?”
“Oh I don’t know, I mean one of Craig’s guys is here in the park with a gun. And I’m sure he’s been told if he sees us to shoot us and then bring us to Craig!”
“Not on my watch.” A voice behind them said.
Both girls nearly jumped out of their skin, only to see Jason Morgan standing there. “Oh my gosh Jason do you have a death wish or something?! I was about to shoot you!” Katie exclaimed.
“You didn’t did you?”
“No.”
“Well alright then.” He told her. “Let’s get you two out of here before we’re all shot.”
“Jason what are you doing here?” another voice asked.
Katie, Dawn, and Jason all turned around to see Elizabeth Webber standing there.
“Elizabeth you need to get out of here.” Jason told her.
“It’s a public park, I think I have the right to be here.” She argued.
“It’s a little dangerous right now.” He mumbled real low.
Elizabeth glanced over his shoulder at Dawn and Katie. “I knew you two were going to be trouble. Two more mob crazy people move here and make it that much more dangerous for my two boys to play in a park.”
“You don’t know me. You don’t know my story. So you better BACK off.” Dawn said very angrily.
Elizabeth looked over at Jason with a ‘did she just say that’ look. “My boys mean the world to me. The last thing I want to happen is them to be playing in the park and wind up being in the crossfire of a shootout.”
“You think I want that Liz?!” Jason yelled. “After everything that happened to Michael you honestly think I’d want that?!”
“I don’t know Jason. I honestly don’t know.”
“Look can you take this argument elsewhere? I have family who needs me and I’m not about to let you interfere with things.”
“Whatever. Jason when will you see what your doing?” Elizabeth muttered and then turned around to leave.
Katie looked up at Jason and noticed a strange look in his eyes. “Who is she, and what was that about?”
“She’s my ex, and I’ll tell you later, first let’s get out of here.”
---------------------------------------------
Jason’s Apartment
Someone was repeatedly knocking on the door. Hesitantly Spinelli got up from the couch to see who was there. Unsure whether it was someone after the ‘damsels in distress’, or whether it was someone they knew. Spinelli opened the door and Maxie came barging in.
“Spinelli this is crazy! You are just not acting as yourself!” she whined.
“I think I have the right.” Spinelli said.
“Spinelli you need me! And I need you! You let people take advantage of you.”
“So your telling me I don’t know how to live my own life? And you think you can tell me who I can and can’t trust?”
“I’m not telling you how to run your life.”
“That’s the way it’s sounding.”
“Spinelli!” she whined again, but was interrupted by the front door opening.
“Queen of cyberspace! Thank goodness you’re alright.” Spinelli said as he ran over to the three who just walked through the front door.
“Queen of cyberspace? Please you got to be kidding me.” Maxie said rolling her eyes.
“Um, who are you?” Dawn asked looking at Maxie.
“Who are you?” Maxie asked looking Dawn up and down.
Dawn let out a little laugh. “You’ve got to be kidding ME.” she mumbled.
Maxie looked at Spinelli and then back to Dawn.
“You honestly think you can come in here stare me up and down asking who I am?” Dawn asked.
“Well you don’t live here, so you don’t have that right either.” Maxie snapped back.
“Actually Maxie, she does temporarily live here, and I think it’s best that you leave.”
Maxie began to pout. She stepped up to Dawn and stared at her. “Don’t think you can take Spinelli away from me.”
“First off, Spinelli is a grown man, he can make decisions for himself. Second he is not your man. Third I think you better do as Jason says before I get the urge to do something I might, or might not regret.”
“Yeah, what would that be?” Maxie retorted, stepping an inch closer.
Before Maxie could say anything else, Dawn’s hand connected to Maxie’s face. Maxie quickly grabbed her face and looked up at Dawn. “Spinelli! Did you just see that?!” Maxie yelled.
“Yes Maxie, I did.” Spinelli managed to say without letting all the laughter he had built up escape.
“She just slapped me in the face and you still call me Maxie?! It’s Maxamista!”
“Maxie please leave.” Jason said while he opened the front door.
She turned her attention to Dawn. “Don’t think I’ll let you get away with this.” She said and then stormed out of the apartment.
“Alright, my brother and Ben don’t need all of your ex girlfriends or whatever being a distraction.”
“Your right and I apologize for my ex best friend’s behavior.” Spinelli said.
Spinelli’s computer began to beep and he walked over to it to see why. “I did it!” he exclaimed.
“Did what?” Jason asked.
“I tapped into The Metro Court’s security cameras and now have a visual of the hotel.”
Jason, Katie, and Dawn all walked over to Spinelli’s laptop and began looking to see if they recognized anyone. “There.” Katie said pointing to a man getting off the elevator on the 6th floor. “That’s Victor.” She said as she fell back onto the couch.
“So he works for the evil one?” Spinelli asked.
“Yeap.” Katie replied, staring off into her own little world.
“Oh my gosh.” Dawn said grabbing his laptop off the table.
“What is it?” Jason asked.
“There’s Ben and Luke.” She replied with a cracking voice.
Jason took a look at the laptop and saw the basement camera view. There in the basement was a man and a young boy, tied and bound with several armed gunman beside them. “Dawn why don’t you go rest for a minute, we can start working on a way to get them out of there safely. We’ll fill you in on what’s happening when your ready.” Jason offered.
“Jason do you honestly think I’ll be able to rest knowing their in the same building with a man who wants us dead?”
“No, but you should at least try.”
“How about I take queen of cyberspace to McCall/Jackal, that way you two can start working on a plan while we work on The Metro Court’s blueprints to find the quickest and safest way to rescue her brother and nephew?” Spinelli offered.
“Can’t ya’ll do that here?” Katie asked. “Sadly no. We need a larger computer than my precious laptop.”
“Well you two go work on that, we’ll meet you there to fill you in on the plan we come up with.”
Spinelli and Dawn nodded as they grabbed their laptops and headed out there.
-----------------
Jason sat down on the couch beside Katie, and stared at the ground. “Who’s Victor?”
“Tell me the deal with that Elizabeth person first.”
“Elizabeth and I used to be involved. After she caught her husband Lucky cheating on her with Maxie, she naturally came to me. Later on down the road she finds out she’s pregnant and has a paternity test done, turned out I was the father, not Lucky. She decided to keep the truth to herself, and let Lucky be his legal father without knowing I am the biological father.” Jason said. “There was a hostage situation and when me and Liz were stuck in an elevator, she told me the truth. She asked me to keep it a secret because of what I do. I was quick to agree with her. Jake was then kidnapped and after he was safely brought back home I walked in on an argument between Lucky and Liz, and I flat out said I was Jake’s real father.” He continued. “Lucky was in total shock, but I was willing to continue with covering it up, as long as Lucky was still willing to continue being Jake’s father.”
“Wow. Isn’t that hard on you? I mean letting another man raise your son?”
“As long as I know Jake’s safe, that’s all that matters.”
“Well that makes you a great father. Your watching out for your son, and doing what’s best for him even if it costs you.”
Jason looked down to his feet. “Never heard those words in my life.”
“Great father?”
“Yeah.”
“Well people are stupid. Everything you did for that boy makes you a good father. Sure you won’t win the father of the year award, but you deserve some credit for doing the right thing.”
“Thanks.” He replied. “Now what’s the deal with Victor?”
“Ah, I thought you’d forget about that subject.” Katie said with a small laugh. “But I guess I’ll tell you since you opened up to me.” She replied. “Victor is Craig’s nephew. He’s the one who got me and Dawn into all the mob type stuff.”
“So he’s your ex?”
“Yeap. After we started working for Craig, Victor became extremely violent. Luckily I knew how to defend myself pretty well, but Craig noticed this and basically told Victor if he layed one hand on me he’d shoot him himself. Craig also demanded that we break up or else. After we broke up. Craig started using Dawn and I for the big time stuff, and the more we got involved in it, the more we wanted out. That day he told us to take out his brother, we both knew we had to get out of it. We’ve been in trouble with the law, but we weren’t about to commit murder.”
“I’m sorry you two had to go through all of that.”
“It’s our fault. We should’ve had the common sense, but we just wanted to live our lives and not let someone else control it.”
Jason just nodded.
“Well how about we start working up a plan?” she asked trying to hurry up and change the subject.
“Let’s get to it.”
--------------------------------------------------
McCall/Jackal PI
“So what’s up with that Maxie chick?” Dawn asked while they both were typing away at the computers.
“We used to be good friends. I wanted it to be more than a friendship and she knew that. She then started going on these PR dates with the mob prince, and proved that she deeply desired him, not me.” Spinelli told her. “Oh not to mention the mob prince was dating the original blonde one at the time.”
“So she was just leading you on?”
“Unfortunately the ace of cyberspace did fall into the palms of Maxie’s hands.”
“Well she doesn’t deserve you. You’re a great guy who deserves to be treated right. Let me tell you, you can do sooo much better than her.”
Spinelli smiled and nodded. “Like the queen of cyberspace?”
Dawn smiled real big and before she could say anything the blueprints appeared on the computer screen. “Looks like the basement was a smart place to take them. Only one way in and one way out.”
“Do you hear something?” Spinelli asked curiously.
Dawn sat there very quietly and listened closely. Dawn recognized the sound as a gun chamber being slid forward. “Spinelli get down!” she yelled as they both took cover behind a desk. Gunshots were being fired left and right. Dawn quickly unstrapped her gun off her ankle strap and prepared herself for what she was about to do. Before she did anything all the gunfire had stopped.
“Spinelli?” a familiar voice asked.
Spinelli and Dawn both stood up. “Fair Samantha, yo-you saved us.”
“Well you two were pretty dang lucky. I was supposed to be watching the metro court, but I realized I left my phone here.” She said. “Are you two ok?”
“Yeah we’re fine.”
“Ok good. Why don’t you two go back to Jason’s and I’ll handle everything here.”
“Are you sure?” Dawn asked.
“Yes I’m sure, now go.” Sam said as she scurried them out the door.

b]Chapter 6[/b]
----------------------------------------
Jason’s Apartment
About an hour had passed since Dawn and Spinelli had left, and both Katie and Jason were racking their brains to try and think of a plan. Katie begin to feel like there was no hope, but kept trying to tell herself just to pray that they were both still ok.
Their thoughts were interrupted when they heard a thud on the door. Jason and Katie quickly drew their weapons and walked over to it. Katie went to the right, and Jason went to the side with the handle. He gave her a slight nod and then flung open the door. Spinelli stumbled through, holding his head.
Jason quickly tucked his gun back behind his shirt and ran over to Spinelli. “What happened?”
“I-I, I mean we were on the way home after wh-what happened at McCall/Jackal PI, and someone ran us off the road. When the Jackal regained consciousness, the queen of cyberspace was …. Gone.”
“No. No you have to be lying.” Katie said, while slowly backing up.
“Katie, calm down. Spinelli what happened at McCall/Jackal?”
“Two armed men shot at me and the queen, but luckily fair Samantha was in the right place right time.”
“Spinelli I’m so sorry?”
“For what ?”
“I should have never brought ya’ll into this mess.”
“The female Stone Cold should not be apologizing for asking for assistance to help you from the evil one.”
“He’s right.” Jason said. “As dangerous as this guy is, there’s no way you could’ve taken him on your own.”
“But now Ben, Luke, and Dawn are in danger just because I screwed up.”
“How were you supposed to know it’d end up like this?”
“I don’t know, maybe I should have had a little more common sense.”
“Listen, I have something I need to take care of right quick. I will be right back. I want you to stay here with Spinelli.”
“Fine.”
“I’ll be back in a little bit.”
Jason left Katie and Spinelli to go to the hospital, because he knew Michael would be going into surgery in a few hours. He wanted to say a few words and make sure Carly and Sonny were ok.
--------------------------------------
The Metro Court
One of Craig’s men tossed Dawn to the floor. As soon as she hit, she clenched her eyes in pain. When it passed, she quickly began looking around for her brother and Ben.
“You don’t honestly think I’d keep them in the same room with you did you?” a voice said, coming from the bathroom.
Dawn quickly turned her head and saw Craig standing in the doorway. “You have me now let my family go.” Dawn said through her teeth.
“But now, you see I clearly said I want both you and Katie. Plus I told you if you came to me I’d let them go. I had to find you, so they’re just going to have to die.”
“You SCUMBAG!” Dawn screamed.
“Did your mother not ever teach you how to use your inside voice?” Craig asked as he slowly started walking over to Dawn.
She kept glaring at him and waited for him to get closer. When he was within range she spit on him.
He looked down at the spit that was now sitting on his jacket, and then looked back up at Dawn. “That wasn’t very ladylike.” He said just before slapping her across the face.
“Didn’t your mama ever teach you not to hit a woman.” Dawn mocked him.
“She did indeed.” Craig said matter-of-factly. “I just choose not to listen.”
“Son of a..”
“Tell me where Katie is and I’ll let your family go.”
“Yeah I’m sure you will.”
Craig paused for a minute. “You know, I have never done this before, but I guess something about this place is making me feel generous.”
“Haha very funny.” Dawn replied shortly.
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that.” He said. “Now, I will let your nephew Ben go right now. I have this little camera here set up to prove it to you.” Craig said, showing the computer with the camera view of the basement. “I’ll let you call whoever you want to come and pick him up to make sure he’s safe.”
“In exchange for Katie?”
“Yes.” He told her. “What’s it going to be Dawn, family or friend?”
-----------------------------------------
The Hospital
“Sonny where’s Michael?” Jason asked while he walked over to where Sonny was sitting in the waiting room.
“They took him up a little early.” Sonny replied, staring at the ground.
“Oh.”
“Jason I thought you said you were going to be here for when they did take him. Carly she just almost completely lost it, seeing him being taken up and you know as good as well as I do she doesn’t need the stress right now.”
“I know Sonny, and I’m sorry. I got something going on right now.”
“Well what could it possibly be?”
“I can’t talk about it with you right now. You have too much on your plate, with Claudia and her baby, Michael, worrying about Carly.”
“Yeah and that’s exactly why I need to know what’s going on. I don’t want to have to worry about what the heck you’re getting yourself into.”
Jason looked over at the wall. “I’m helping two people.”
“Would this be the two people that moved in a few doors down from you.”
“Maybe.”
“And what would kind of trouble are these two new people your devoting most of your time, in?” Sonny asked.
“Someone wants them dead, and Dawn’s family was dragged into it so now there’s an innocent boy involved.”
Sonny looked down at the ground when he realized Carly was standing behind Jason. Jason turned around and saw her standing there.
“Sonny can I have a minute with Jason?”
“Yeah, sure.” He said and then left the room.
“Who are these people I heard Sonny talking about. And what about an innocent boy?”
“Carly, you need to trust me when I say it’s better for you not to know.”
“Oh, so just because I’m in a high risk pregnancy I don’t get to worry about my best friend?”
“Exactly. A high risk pregnancy.”
“Jason, you know as good as well as I do that the second you leave here, not telling me what the heck is going on, I’m going to be worried sick.” She pointed out. “And that is very stressful.”
Jason let out a sigh. “Two girls, Katie and Dawn moved down the hall from us and they are in a lot of trouble. Someone wants to kill them and well they kidnapped Dawn’s brother and nephew.”
“Oh my gosh.”
“Spinelli just came to us and said someone ran him and Dawn off the road and now Dawn has been taken.”
“Jason how can you do this especially with everything that’s going on with Michael. I mean I know that poor boy reminds you of him.”
“I just don’t want any innocent person to be in the cross heirs of a gun. “
“I know that.” Carly said as she sat down. “Go save that little boy and his family, but just please be careful. Michael needs you.”
Jason nodded, “I will.”
Just before he could turn around, Spinelli ran into the room. “Spinelli what are you doing here?”
“I bear bad news.”
“What?”
“The female version of you was talking nonsense about just making it safer and easier for us and everyone else and turn herself in.”
“What?!”
“The Jackal thought he talked her out of it and I guess I fell asleep for a brief moment and when I woke up, she wasn’t … there.”
Jason pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number as he left the room. “Katie where are you? You need to pick up.” He said on the voicemail.
--------------------------------------
The Park
Katie walked to an area no one really went to. She didn’t want anyone to get in the middle of what was probably about to go down. She pulled out her cell phone and noticed Jason called several times. Katie dialed a number and then closed her eyes, awaiting for the person to answer.
“Well well well.” The voice said.
“Let Ben go and I will come to you.”
“You see Katie, Ben has already been let go. He’s in the custody of a Jason Morgan.”
Katie thought for a second and figured that’s why Jason was calling her. “Let Luke go too.”
“Why would I do that?”
“Because you want me. You’ll get me if you let him go,”
Craig began to laugh. Before she could say anything, there was a loud echo throughout the park. Katie felt a sharp pain shoot through her shoulder. She looked down and saw blood coming from her shoulder.

Chapter 7
A/N: There is some Spanish in here, but I don’t speak Spanish so I just used an online translator. So if any of you do know Spanish and it had me saying something bad, please forgive me LOL!!
The Metro Court
Katie slowly opened her eyes and realized she was no longer in the park. She turned her head to the side and saw Dawn lying across the room, beaten pretty badly. “Dawn?” Katie groaned.
She heard as Dawn begin to move around. “Katie? What are you doing here?”
“They shot me.” She told her. “I was in the park, telling Craig I’d turn myself in if he let Ben and Luke go, but he said they already sent Ben to Jason.”
“Oh no. No no no no!” Dawn said forcing herself to try and get up. “He told me that if I told him where you were then he’d let Ben go, and I would be able to choose who he went to. I told him to take him to Sam McCall. Not once have I mentioned Jason’s name.”
“So this means they probably still have Ben.”
“Oh my gosh! How can I have been so stupid to think he’d actually let him go!”
“Hopefully Jason realizes that I’m gone too. He went to the hospital to be with Michael before his surgery. Jason doesn’t know that I know, so he tried to hide it.”
“What about Spinelli?” Dawn asked.
“He was sleeping on the couch when I left him.”
“So he wasn’t hurt from the accident?”
“Nah, just a bump on the head.” She told her. “What the heck did they do to you Dawn?”
“Well I kept making sarcastic remarks, and etc. so, yeah they beat the crap out of me.”
“Thank goodness your alright.”
“Well if they wanted me dead they would’ve killed me by now.”
“Yeah, they could’ve shot me, well I mean I know they did shoot me, but it could’ve been a lot worse. Least it was a through and through on the shoulder.”
“Well we have to start thinking of something, carefully and quietly as possible due to the fact I know they’re watching us right now.”
“Piensa usted que su visto bueno luchar alguien?” Katie asked.
“Sí, es usted.”
“Bien cuando los guardias entran, lo mejor hacer es combate ellos y consigue sus armas. Literalmente que es todo podemos hacer.”
“Hagamos lo!”
Katie and Dawn couldn’t help but laugh because they knew Craig and his men weren’t able to speak Spanish.
The Hospital
“Spinelli do you have any idea where she might be?”
“No sir, I’m afraid I have not a clue.” Spinelli replied, looking down at his feet. He was quite ashamed that he couldn’t handle the one task of keeping Katie calm and safe. “Wait a second…” Spinelli said, jerking his head up.
“What is it?” Jason stopped pacing and then asked.
“What if the queen of cyberspace went to the park to turn herself in? What if that’s where the evil one wanted to meet? Maybe if the female version of you called to meet him somewhere it could be where the evil one told the queen of cyberspace to meet. The park!”
“Spinelli that’s a long shot.”
“But it’s better than nothing. Let’s just go to the park and see if the female version of you is there.”
“Alright.” Jason said and then walked to the elevator.
PCPD
“Lucky!” Lulu Spencer, Lucky’s sister yelled as she quickly walked over to her brother.
“What’s wrong? Everything ok?”
“I.. I.. I don’t know. I um I was walking through the park and there was a gunshot and I panicked…” Lulu was trying to get all in one breath.
“Lulu calm down.” Lucky said and placed his hands on his sisters shoulders. “Are you ok?”
“Yes I’m fine, but there was a gunshot, and then voices, and I just panicked and ran.”
“Ok can you tell me who it sounded like. Jason or Sonny?”
“No, this person was definitely not from around here. The accent was kind of southernish sounding.”
“Did you hear what they said?”
“I did hear Jason’s name being brought up, but I was trying to lay low and get out of there as soon as possible.”
“Alright you did good.”
“Lucky what if someone is hurt?”
“We’ll take care of everything. I’ll head over to the park right now and check things out now.”
“Ok. Just be careful!”
The Park[/b[
Spinelli and Jason were trying their hardest to be quiet as they looked for Katie. Spinelli then got the idea to call her cell phone. After they dialed it, they heard a ringing coming from the other side of the bushes. Jason quickly ran past them and saw Katie’s phone lying on the ground next to a bullet that looked like it had gone through someone. It was very bloody. Jason quickly picked up the phone and saw someone had left a message on it:
So you must be the infamous Jason. You’re the one who’s been helping my little friends out. After I heard your name I started asking around town and they say you’ve got quite an aim, so I decided to have a little game. Corky yeah I know, but I’m in a playing mood. Right now I have four people in my custody and you can have a shot to free one of them. Just one. So here’s how the little game goes. When I see your done reading this message, I will send you a picture of one of my men. If you can shoot and kill him in 1 hour, one person by your choice will be set free. As simple as that. Have fun and good luck.
When Jason finished reading it he looked over at the Metro Court in the distant. No sooner than he did that, the phone beeped, signaling him he had a new message. He opened it and there was a picture, just like he told him.
“What did it say?” Spinelli asked, curiosity growing inside of him.
“I should’ve known you’d be involved.” Lucky said as he approached the two men.
“Now’s not the time Lucky.” Jason scowled.
“Listen, my sister came to me and said she heard a gunshot, scared her half to death. She said she heard voices and the man that was talking mentioned your name.”
Jason slowly looked down at the bullet that was in his hand. “Oh my god.” Jason said as he realized that he might be holding a bullet that could’ve killed Katie.
“What are you not telling me? If someone is in trouble I’ll help as much as I can.” Lucky tried reasoning.
“I appreciate it Lucky, I really do, but it might make things worse. I need to do this myself.” Jason said and walked away. Spinelli followed.
Chapter 8 Preview
Katie and Dawn try and kick their plan into action. Will it wind up a big mistake or a huge break? Does someone make it out of the Metro Court alive?
