They are doing it with all of the shows...not just the CSI's. Bones, House, and several others are in re-runs...What gives? I'm guessing it's partly the holidays -- why air new episodes when a big chunk of your usual audience is out doing other stuff anyway? Especially now that it's almost normal to air repeats mid-season. It used to be unheard of -- you started the season, aired 39 or so new episodes, then aired repeats during the summer. But when they cut the standard number of new episodes down to 26, they couldn't have a solid six months of repeats without losing audience, so they started scattering a few in the middle of the season on weeks when viewership was lower anyway (such as holidays). ER tried to distribute it evenly and it got so bad that they were advertising when new episodes would be aired! It's geared to Northern Hemisphere seasons and schedules, though, so it might seem totally senseless Down Under.

I'm a little curious what CSIV's ratings were last night. And Laurence Fishburne was GREAT, imho.
Saw the preview for next week. I think he'll be great up against the rest of the team. Still wish Greggo hadn't "grown up", though. I really think that would've been pretty funny. But that's okay.

I'm guessing that CSI:LV's ratings were through the roof last night -- even people who aren't regulars probably tuned in to see Grissom's Farewell. I thought they did a good job of it, with lots of little scenes of individuals bringing up the subject while they were doing something else. Especially Hodges, who reacted totally in character -- first being offended that he wasn't there when Grissom broke the news, then making those "this is what we live for!" comments (he kept looking at Grissom instead of Dr. Langston, so I think changing Grissom's mind was his first motive and impressing Langston was secondary), and finally coming out with his self-centered concern -- that if Grissom left, Hodges would somehow be diminished. And the moment Grissom (characteristically) spotted that and bolstered his ego, Hodges was content. I just loved that progression! (I'm rather fond of Hodges, despite his flaws -- or perhaps because of them. ) It should be interesting to see how Langston fits in -- he's used to being Top Dog, and suddenly he'll be the low man on the totem pole. From the previews, it looks like he's going to adapt by loosening up a lot, reverting to junior status behavior -- hmm, maybe we've got some "Langston as goofball" scenes in our future?

I loved the episode and I agree that Fisburne was great. He will bring a different experience to the team.Like Grissom,he is at an age where he wants something different in his life. As for Greg,he did have to mature at some point, but his character could stand to lighten up a little.

Last night he did a wonderful job! I think he'll fit right in there with the team. I liked how Hodges was trying to drop hints and convince Grissom to stay. Overall I thought it was a great eppy!

Langston really did a good job helping with the case. He felt a little guilty about the killer being one of his students and not having seen it. It will be interesting to see how he and the team interact. Will they try comparing him to Grissom? Will Langston and Catherine be "stepping on each others toes"?
I think it will make for an interesting next few episodes... :pillowfight:

Who knows? That may be an idea for a CSI Vegas fanfic. Cross Dr. Langston with a much younger Greggo--when he still danced around with a showgirl's headdress or wore a rubber glove on his head. And I guess think of something from there.
And if Dr. Langston DOES make it over to Miami, well, hmmm. The possibilities are endless at this point (or I'm bored).
Kudos to the CSIV writers for making sure the characters ARE characters. I think that's been a major reason the show has done as well as it has.
